Today, we spent alot of time tilling and planting – what great family time! Most of our seeds were purchased from Jordan Seeds, jordanseeds.com, in Woodbury who were recommended by many of our friends who grow for farmer’s markets or are CSA growers. The germination rate has been very good. The seed varieties are ones we have grown before, but we were able to purchase them in larger quantities to meet the needs for more families.
- The tiller was passed down from Steve’s Grandpa and Grandma Gifford. I think they are smiling down from Heaven at these images of Steve with the boys.
- Close up showing how the tiller works.
- This planter came from Kristin’s parents. There are different seed plates on the inside of the planter box that are changed out depending on the type of seed that is planted.
- Green beans ready to be planted.
- Steve working with Sam planting green beans. The two boys are fully engaged in this process and seem to be loving every minute of it.
- Keith enjoyed using the planter on his own. It isn’t always about straight rows. It is about learning by doing. His rows have had good germination and that along with what he learned are the most important.

- Pictured are the strawberry popcorn seeds which can be used as ornamental or popcorn to eat. We also will have ornamental, broom and sweet corn available.
- Ensuring their is good seed to soil contact when planting is essential for good seed germination.
